Of course everyone watched Super Bowl XLVI right? Well, I must say that all of the advertisements were a perfect example of taking social media to the next level as a marketing strategy.
Many of our favorite brands such as Budweiser, Audi, Best Buy, GE, Acura and H&M are using “hashtags” in place of URLS to catch attention and gain publicity. It is simple to generate a hashtag however, it is extremely important to keep interacting with the audience to get feedback.
What is a hashtag? A hashtag is known as the number symbol or a pound symbol (#). Hashtags are often used in comments or tweets on sites such as Facebook & Twitter.
• A hastag must be short since websites such as Twitter allow you to use 140 characters or less in your tweet.
• Hashtags must pertain to a specific category
• Hashtags must be promoted for usage for a large audience other than yourself
